Chicago

On the last day of the Mini drive, (July 1, 2023), a severe rainstorm hit Chicago and the surrounding area, causing widespread flooding and damage. Some parts of the Chicago area received over 8 inches of rain.

The heavy rains quickly overwhelmed the city's drainage system, causing flooding on streets and highways. Many underpasses were also flooded, trapping vehicles and motorists. The rainstorm was one of the worst storms in the city's recent history. Due to the weather, we had a difficult time getting to the start of Route 66.

No matter what your interests are, you're sure to find something to love about driving Route 66 through Illinois. It's a road trip that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
