Texas Route 66

Driving Route 66 across the Texas Panhandle is a unique and unforgettable experience. The route takes you through a vast and sparsely populated landscape, but it's also home to a number of charming small towns and iconic roadside attractions.

A must-see stop is the Midpoint Cafe in Adrian. This cafe is located at the exact midpoint of Route 66, and it's a great place to stop for a meal and learn more about the history of the highway.

Another highlight of driving Route 66 through the Texas Panhandle is the Cadillac Ranch. This roadside attraction, west of Amarillo, features ten Cadillacs buried nose-first in the ground. It's a popular spot for tourists to take photos and leave their mark.

Not to be outdone, east of Amarillo is the Bug Ranch. Here a number of Volkswagen Beetles are similarly buried standing on end.

In addition to the roadside attractions, there are also a number of charming small towns along Route 66 in the Texas Panhandle. One of the most popular stops is Shamrock, which is known for its U-Drop Inn, a unique restaurant and gift shop that's been in business since 1936. There is also an iconic Conoco gas station at the same site.

No matter what your interests are, you're sure to find something to love about driving Route 66 across the Texas Panhandle. It's a road trip that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
